A Big Step for Sensory Playground: Our First Store is Opening

This is a bit of a pinch-me moment for us. For a long time, Sensory Playground has lived online. A website, parcels heading out the door, and messages from families saying a product had helped make the day a little easier. Over time, more and more families discovered us. Parents, carers and educators started returning for products they knew they could trust.

Slowly, something lovely happened. People in our local community began to recognise Sensory Playground as a place to turn when they needed sensory support.

That steady support is the reason we are now able to take the next step. We are opening our first Sensory Playground store!

Why Now?

Opening a physical shop has always been something we hoped to do, but it only makes sense when a business can truly sustain it (and when felt ready to).

Thanks to the support of families both online and locally, Sensory Playground has grown enough to make that possible. The community around us has played a huge part in that growth, helping the shop become known as a trusted place to find sensory tools and toys that genuinely support neurodivergent people.

The store is not about becoming bigger for the sake of it. It is about bringing what we already do into a real space that people can visit. A place that belongs to the community that helped build it.

Why a Shop Matters for Sensory Tools

Sensory products are not like most things you buy. They can be difficult to judge from a photo. Texture, weight and movement make a huge difference to how a sensory tool feels and how helpful it might be.

Opening a shop means families can explore products properly. You can pick them up, feel the textures, and see what works before deciding what might help at home or school. For many parents, especially those navigating sensory needs for the first time, that kind of experience can make things much easier.

What You’ll Find in Store

The shop isn't large, but it is full of products that have been chosen with love and care. Everything you see has passed the real life test in our own home. If a product did not genuinely help with calming, regulating, focusing or sensory comfort, it simply did not make the shelf.

Inside the store you will find tactile tools, fidgets, calming aids and sensory products designed to support focus, emotional regulation and everyday wellbeing. More importantly, you will find a welcoming space where people can explore without pressure.

Opening the store feels like a big milestone because of what it represents. It shows how much the Sensory Playground community has grown. Families, carers, teachers and supporters have helped turn a small online idea into something that can now exist on the high street. That kind of support means more than we can easily put into words. The shop itself might be small, but the passion behind it is anything but.

We are incredibly excited to open the doors and welcome people in.
